Weekly photo challenge – Beloved

This is the first photo challenge that I thought I should start with because of its theme – Beloved. This is the first picture that I have with my infant boy. He is the most beloved gift bestowed upon me by the Almighty. This photo was taken in the year 2015 when he was only twenty-one days old. I had just started experiencing the bliss of motherhood after a highly complicated c-section. As I gather myself after battling marathon sleep deprived nights and struggling to cope up with the new role of a motherless new mum, I am amazed to see the glow of happiness in holding my new-born.

He is twenty-eight months old as of now but every time I look at this picture, I wish I could freeze time to never let him grow up.

Restaurant review – Pizza Hut, Near Nicco Park, Kolkata

On a December weekend last year, when we dropped in to the Pizza Hut outlet near Nicco Park, Salt Lake for evening snacks, we were already exhausted and famished from a fun-filled yet tiring day at the Nicco Park. The place had a welcoming look about it and was only partially full when we entered. It was quite evident that this place mainly catered to the crowd from the adjacent Nicco Park but was primarily set up as a delivery joint for the surrounding areas.

January 2018 – hopping from hopelessness to hopefulness with immense gratitude

Last week had been quite a eventful one for us as a family. Saraswati Puja was on January 22nd – my toddler who turned twenty-eight months on that very day had his hathekhori (introduction to the world of education/writing/alphabets). We had come down to our native town on the auspicious occasion but decided to prolong our stay because I got this amazing brain wave of covering the heritage town of Murshidabad through a travel series. Despite limited options, I have also been trying to experiment with the available eating out joints here. Thus quite a few of pending write ups in the categories under restaurant reviews, travel diaries and personal have been piling up which should be out anytime this week.

Blogger Appreciation Award

Four months back when I quit my banking job to become a full time blogger, I had this misplaced notion that now that I was on the path of becoming a solopreneur, I could keep my social interactions to a minimum. In less than three months, I realized that my thoughts were indeed misplaced. I accepted that I was now a part of the bigger blogging fraternity and started interacting more with my fellow bloggers through WordPress, Facebook and Twitter. Some gave me a cold shoulder, others were cordial but the one who was the most welcoming was Maya.

Restaurant review – The Steak Factory, New Town, Kolkata

Barely at a walking distance of five minutes from our residence, the latest entrant in the New Town area this year is an outlet of the restaurant ‘The Steak Factory’. On a Friday afternoon in the middle of this month, while we were heading back home, it was an impromptu decision to visit this newly opened outlet for lunch. The place had average crowd in the afternoon and the experience turned out to be a delight for us.

Before it became together, forever!

The first time that I met T, I was coming out of my chemistry tuition classes. A lean fellow then, he looked way more arrogant than his seventeen years. Our twelfth board exams were due to begin in three months and he joined my tuition batch for joint entrance examinations. I had already lost my heart to chemistry and the only reason I was part of that group was that I wanted to pursue higher studies in the subject from a premier institute. I don’t remember ever interacting with him while he always nurtured an irritation towards me for consistently topping the class tests. I got through my dream college in Kolkata for pursuing Chemistry Hons. He got through the most coveted medical college there for pursuing M.B.B.S. The funny co-incidence was that our colleges were adjacent. The day we went to bid adieu to our Professor was the only time we spoke wishing each other luck for the future.
