The author’s copies of ‘Diary, Deceit, and Death’ arrived last evening. It feels surreal to hold the book, an outcome of my passion turned into a profession. Coincidentally, 7 years ago on the same day(13th Sep), I started my writing journey with the blog soniasmusings.com

An active blog, innumerable articles, a handful of research write-ups, and two Raya Ray adventures later, I can look back and say I’m glad I took the plunge.

While I was both excited and emotional looking at the set, the child behind the camera couldn’t wait for me to stop speaking because he had something to say about the book as well. So, don’t miss the ending for he has a message for all my readers.

Readers sharing pictures after receiving my book ‘Diary, Deceit, and Death’

Last evening, a friend in Delhi shared the first snap of my book reaching her.

Late in the night, an avid reader shared the pictures on Instagram stories tagging me and mentioned how excited she was to receive the book.

This morning, a reader friend, who’s also an author himself, shared about receiving the book. He couldn’t stop racing about the gorgeous cover.

My book, Diary, Deceit, and Death, is out on Amazon now. It’s taken me a couple of years to bring out the second book in the Detective Raya Ray series. Today on Teacher’s Day, I dedicate this book to my first teachers – my late mother and my father, a retired professor.

There couldn’t have been a better month than August (Ma’s birthday month) to announce the second book in the Detective Raya Ray series – Diary, Deceit, and Death. I received the first copy last evening from my publisher Vishwakarma Publications for proofing. The amazing cover is by The Book Baker, also my literary agent.

This is a thriller of greed, betrayal and masked identities of 2 families spanning 3 generations in 4 cities over 5 decades. Will Raya be able to race against time to deliver justice?

Well, that’s for you to find out once the book is released in the coming weeks. It would be available on Amazon, Flipkart, and in all major bookstores across the country.

Now time for me to get back to give the finishing touch to this fast-paced Detective thriller.

I’m thrilled to reveal the cover of my second book in the Detective Raya Ray series.

Titled ‘DIARY, DECEIT & DEATH’, the story takes Raya into a sleepy, old town in Bengal full of palatial buildings, deadly secrets, and people one can never trust.

The last proofreading session before publishing

Diving into the last proofreading session for my upcoming novel in the Detective Raya Ray series before the manuscript goes for publishing. Launch expected between May end-mid June’24. Fingers crossed. Hope things go as per plan.

A couple of years have passed since I released my debut thriller introducing Detective Raya Ray. While I started writing the next in the series soon after and was signed on by one of India’s leading literary agencies, The Book Bakers, I wanted to create a puzzle to challenge Raya and also the reader’s crime-solving skills. Dissatisfied with two manuscripts, I decided to move away from the book and enrolled for my third master’s, MFA in creative writing, in Nov 2019. Post-completion of the course, I had a fresh perspective of looking at a new Raya Ray story.

‘Diary, Deceit, and Death – Raya Ray Returns’ took shape in the form of a manuscript, which The Book Bakers successfully placed to one of the country’s top publishers Vishwakarma Publications.
