Most of the readers would remember Vir Das for acting in a couple of Bollywood movies (Go Goa Gone, Delhi Belly). But what makes him stand-out is the fact that he is one of the first few successful stand-up comedians taking the craft of humor to an international level. In 2017, he was the first Indian stand-up comedian to debut on Netflix with his show ‘Abroad Understanding.’ The versatile performer has hosted shows across different genres, written for esteemed magazines and repeatedly made it to the Netflix platform with shows like ‘Losing It’ and his latest, ‘For India.’

Known for his strong opinions on politics, society and human behavior, Das is often seen speaking about the uncomfortable and bitter realities coated with a layer of humor. His bold views have subjected him to trolling but the sassy performer has delivered a comeback in his classic witty style.
This is the fourth post in the Blogchatter A2Z series under the theme ‘Laugh in the time of Corona.’ See you tomorrow as I disclose the name featured in the post for E.
You can read the previous posts here. Have fun watching this clip from Vir Das’ first Netflix special.
Who am I?
An erstwhile banker turned blogger/writer/author.
Any qualifications?
A Post-Graduate degree in Chemistry followed by a second Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. I completed a one-year MFA in creative writing course from the Writer's Village University, U.S. in Dec 2020. Though I must admit that I am still trying to figure out how and when I can connect all these dots.
Have I done any real work?
If two years in market research, six years in banking as a branch head, three-plus years of blogging, writing, and publishing a book can be considered as real work, then yes!
Where do I live?
After spending life like a nomad for sixteen years in Delhi, Bangalore & Mysore, I am back to where it all started from - Kolkata.
My favorite things -
Books, coffee, travel, food, and my five-year-old son.
What is this blog about?
Through Sonia's musings, I intend to explore writing in various genres, create social awareness, spread laughter, and give words to emotions.
Anything for readers?
You can check out my book 'Deal of Death' on Amazon Kindle. If you like fast-paced thrillers, this Detective fiction introducing the woman sleuth, Raya Ray could turn out to be your perfect weekend read.

I thought Vir would come later with alphabet V. He is undoubtedly one of the best. Did you watch his travel-comedy show ‘ Jestination unknown’?
Too many options are available for V. That’s why I thought of bringing him up for D. I have watched and loved it. I am quite fond of the way he handles social media trolls.
I am not much into stand up comedians. But your series is introducing me to these names. I came across Vir Das but haven’t checked any of his shows..
I like his attitude. At first I didn’t like his jokes but later developed an attraction for his apt comedian look. Once I saw him in a south Indian film song, must say he did mature acting there. Loved it.
Das is a comedian that I’m familiar with and fond of. Attended an Insta Live he hosted last weekend in collaboration with BookMyShow as part of lockdown entertainment!
