Memories from 2018 – Recap series (Aug & Sep)

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

After bringing out some extremely special memories from JanuaryFebruary and MarchAprilMay, June and July, I move on to talk about an eventful August and delightful September here.

AUGUST

Lights, Camera, Chatter

August has always been about my mother’s birthday and my motherland’s independence day. Till date, I celebrate her birthday by cutting a cake hoping that her soul finds peace in her heavenly abode. But this year, August became a landmark month in my life after winning the Lights, Camera, Chatter contest by Blogchatter. As winners, we had the opportunity to perform our pieces live on camera. Through this forum, I transformed from a story writer to a storyteller this year. I have been thinking of doing this more often through my some selective storytelling sessions on my YouTube channel in 2019.

SEPTEMBER

September is when my son was born. My life would have probably continued in one of the corporate houses in Bangalore, hadn’t this new phase changed my approach towards and priorities in life. This year, my toddler turned three and the entire family joined in celebrating his special day. It is still an emotional moment to see him grow up so fast.

On the professional front, this was also a month that I took another new step into public speaking. An esteemed platform like Women’s Web invited me to be a speaker as part of their Breaking Barriers event in Kolkata. It was a great privilege to share my experience of becoming a solopreneur and listen to the journey of some very inspiring women. Overall, September has always been one of the most fulfilling months for the past three years and this year was no exception.

I hope you enjoyed reading my recap series until now. Stay tuned as I get back with a colorful October and fearful November in the next post that will go live on 26th Dec.

I also take this opportunity to wish all my friends Merry Christmas. May the season of joy bring happiness and peace in your life.

Author: Sonia Chatterjee

Who am I? An erstwhile banker turned blogger/writer/author. Any qualifications? A Post-Graduate degree in Chemistry followed by a second Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. I completed a one-year MFA in creative writing course from the Writer's Village University, U.S. in Dec 2020. Though I must admit that I am still trying to figure out how and when I can connect all these dots. Have I done any real work? If two years in market research, six years in banking as a branch head, three-plus years of blogging, writing, and publishing a book can be considered as real work, then yes! Where do I live? After spending life like a nomad for sixteen years in Delhi, Bangalore & Mysore, I am back to where it all started from - Kolkata. My favorite things - Books, coffee, travel, food, and my five-year-old son. What is this blog about? Through Sonia's musings, I intend to explore writing in various genres, create social awareness, spread laughter, and give words to emotions. Anything for readers? You can check out my book 'Deal of Death' on Amazon Kindle. If you like fast-paced thrillers, this Detective fiction introducing the woman sleuth, Raya Ray could turn out to be your perfect weekend read.
