Passing on the love of playing football

My 69-year-old father used to be an avid footballer in his youth. Despite circumstantial constraints, he managed to make it to the District team before recurring asthma attacks forced him to quit the game forever. Ever since my toddler started preschool three months back, he has developed an extreme fondness for the game of football. On observing this, my father has started taking a renewed interest in playing this game with my son. I realize that this playtime is one of the strongest bonds between a grandfather and his grandson where the older generation passes on his experience, love, and learnings of the game to the future generation.

  1. What a beautiful thing it is to see the renewed interest and enthusiasm and more importantly, the love of a sport being passed down from a grandparent to a grandchild. Kids learn so much even from the free unstructured play time with the grandparents. And, the grandparents live with these wonderful memories they can share with the children all over again. Thank you so much for linking up with Natasha and me, Sonia. Looking forward to your photo posts in the coming weeks too. 🙂

  2. What a heart-warming post this, Sonia. It is so very essential for our children to develop that unique bond with their grandparents. I’m blessed too, to witness that between my children and my parents and in-laws. They have a beautiful rapport and my girls love spending time with them.
And I think they both benefit from these precious interactions.

Thank you so much for linking up with Esha and me for #WordlessWednesday. Great to have you join us. Hope to see your post again in the coming linkys.
