Announcing the release of my new nonfiction book ‘The Sanyasi who became a King’

Announcing the release of my new book – ‘The Sanyasi who became a King’, which also marks my debut in the nonfiction genre.

The Sanyasi who became a King

Represented by The Book Bakers and published by Sristhi Publishers, this is the true story behind the mystery of the Bhawal Raja set in pre-Independent India.

Here’s a small synopsis of the book –

May 1909: Ramendra Narayan Roy, the second King of the Bhawal estate, dies under mysterious circumstances in Darjeeling. Twelve years later, an ash-covered sanyasi resembling the deceased King is seen.
The King’s family rejoices, but his wife, Bibhabati, refuses to accept the man as her husband. With support from the British government – which does not want the man to reclaim his lost power and wealth for selfish reasons – she demands proof!
Was the Sanyasi a fraud? If he was the real King, then whose body was cremated in Darjeeling? What role did Bibhabati’s brother play in this mysterious death?
The Sanyasi Who Became a King is a true murder mystery set in pre-Independent India that highlights the intricacies of raw emotions, relationships, power, money and betrayal.

Book cover reveal and pre-order link for my new book ‘The Sanyasi who became a King’

For the last few days, I’ve been hinting at some surprise announcements before we wrap the year.

So here’s the big reveal. Presenting to you the COVER of my next book ‘The Sanyasi who became a King’. Based on true facts and research, it is the story behind the mystery of the Bhawal Raja. This book is extremely special not only because it is my second book of 2024, but also since it marks my debut into the non-fiction true crime genre.

The sanyasi who became a king

I began working on this book after some intense brainstorming sessions with Suhail of The Book Bakers. When the idea was pitched to Arup of Sristhi Publishers, he encouraged us to turn it into reality.

For the next few months, I read up all the materials available about the case along with background research about Bhawal Raja and sanyasi. Though I was very clear about keeping the facts and sequence of events intact, the challenge was to ensure it didn’t read like a research thesis.

To know how we made it different yet interesting, you can PRE-ORDER the book on Amazon by clicking on the link below –

Diary, Deceit and Death travels the country with its author

2024 is the year when I visited Purulia, Ayodhya Hills, Lucknow, Agra, Vizag, and Gopalpur in the last 3 months.

At Vizag

Since Diary, Deceit and Death released in September 2024, the book has travelled with me to all these places.

At Agra

Here’s my father holding the book at a picturesque location chosen by my husband while my son clicked the picture. They along with my in-laws are the reason I shifted careers to pursue what I always loved doing – writing. It’s overwhelming to see them feel happy and proud of me.

Ayodhya Hills, Purulia

For the next couple of days, there will be some major announcements – the year end surprises I have planned for my readers and friends.

At Lucknow

Until then, if you haven’t placed an order for the book, it’s time you do it as a year end gift to yourself or your loved ones. Here’s the link –
