7 years ago, I met Suhail for the first time in Kolkata. I had just been signed up by The Book Bakers. I felt nervous excitement as I spoke about my aspirations in the new journey of writing. He was patient and understanding. It took me three more years to give him the manuscript of ‘Diary, Deceit and Death’ since I decided to go ahead with an MFA in 2019. And then he got me the deal for ‘The Sanyasi who became a King’ in 2023.
Two days ago, he came to Kolkata with Sumedha and Samaira for Prasun’s wife Brinda’s book launch. It was a delight to meet him in person and his rocking sense of humour put everyone at ease.
Over the past few years, every time I spoke to him, I never failed to mention how grateful I’m to have him in my life as my mentor, friend, and guide. He has never been just my literary agent but more like a younger brother to me. So when we met yesterday for a brainstorming session on our upcoming collaborations, I tied a rakhi on his wrist. This moment will forever be one of the most special memories for me.
He always jokes about how I don’t know what it means to send a short written or audio message and he has to read/hear my messages in installments. So how could I let go of this opportunity to write paragraphs for one of the most special persons in my life and writing journey? I’m sure he’s going to come back with another ‘puntastistic’ response to this
Here’s to many more amazing books, future collaborations and special moments. Come back sooner to Kolkata, Suhail!
Glimpses of Janmastami celebration on 16th Sep at my marital home. The idols are over 200 years old. I feel blessed to be a part of the celebrations with my extended family and also seek Shyam Rai’s blessings.
A tiny dose of happiness when the kid gets felicitated by his school for a national rank of 75 in Spell Bee. Proud of him and his friends who made it to the national list amidst thousands of students across the country.
Proud of his achievement
Also, this one’s special because only the two of us know how much we struggled to ensure he appears for the preliminary level of this competition. 🧿
Celebrating Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore and Kabi Nazrul Islam’s creations through music, recitation, dance and drama on 18th July 2025.
The kid and his friends performed a play called ‘Pete o pithe’ written by Tagore. We were fortunate to witness it live and the laughter in the background proves how much the children enjoyed it.
Special thanks to Ranita ma’am, who spent weeks training the children and his school authorities for giving him the opportunity.
Heartfelt gratitude to Kainaz, Aabs Publishing House & Reader’s Choice for featuring both my books in the Heyzine magazine.

Batchmates – friends – best friends – boyfriend/girlfriend – spouses – daughter+son-in-law/son + daughter-in-law – parents – the final acceptance of the truth that no one can tolerate us 365 days except each other because we are annoying of the same level.
That’s the trajectory of our story. 14 years of being officially married to this man I have danced with on the streets during Durga Puja and walked with to get fit. He continues to be consistent, I keep up my track record of being a foodie. Less coffee, more black tea; less conversation, more responsibilities ; less travel, more commitments – that’s how life has been for a while now. But like always, thou shall continue to irritate me and I shall continue to get on your nerves.
Here’s to many more years of love, partnership, arguments, support and having each other’s back.
