Weekly Photo Challenge – Tour Guide

I stumbled upon this weekly photo challenge just a while ago. The topic for this week is Tour Guide – What do you love about where you live? I was born in the capital of Bengal – Kolkata or Calcutta as the city of Joy used to be referred to as earlier but I grew up in a small town of Bengal called Berhampore. After my plus two, I moved cities for higher education and then for job assignments but whenever I use the word home, it always means Berhampore. It still does. The town is a part of the heritage district of Murshidabad.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Letter Y

This week of Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge has the letter Y. This is part of the Alphabet with a twist series and the rules state that it needs to start or end with the letter Y or in the caption for the photo “Why” needs to be present. We have traveled back to my home town for a couple of weeks and the toddler is getting to spend a lot of time with both his paternal grandparents and my Dad. Winter is on a backward retreat mode.

Today morning we were trying to go a little creative with the games while playing on the sun-kissed veranda floor of the house I grew up in. Dad had just laid out freshly cleaned raw vegetables. The toddler insisted on using the potatoes, tomatoes, pea-pods and his crayons to make a pattern. So I made the alphabet ‘Y’ using the vegetables and he tried picking it up using his set of crayons. I remember coaxing my Mum to do the same during my growing up years. Through today’s play session, I realized how small moments in motherhood can indeed be a way of reminiscing my childhood.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Letter X

This is the first time that I am participating in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge. This is part of the Alphabet with a twist series and the rules state that X needs to be anywhere in the word or the primary photo subject needs to be shaped like the letter X. My twenty eight month old son has recently been introduced to alphabets. He is just not fond of maintaining the correct sequence in getting to know the alphabets. He simply chooses an alphabet as per his preference based on either color or shape.

This evening when I was mentioning the uniqueness of this photo challenge to my husband, I was surprised to see my toddler pick up the letter ‘X’ from his alphabets set to hand it over to us. As I captured his moment of excited participation through my lens, it was also a sad reminder of the fact that he is indeed growing up too fast way too soon.

Weekly photo challenge – Beloved

This is the first photo challenge that I thought I should start with because of its theme – Beloved. This is the first picture that I have with my infant boy. He is the most beloved gift bestowed upon me by the Almighty. This photo was taken in the year 2015 when he was only twenty-one days old. I had just started experiencing the bliss of motherhood after a highly complicated c-section. As I gather myself after battling marathon sleep deprived nights and struggling to cope up with the new role of a motherless new mum, I am amazed to see the glow of happiness in holding my new-born.

He is twenty-eight months old as of now but every time I look at this picture, I wish I could freeze time to never let him grow up.
