Occupying a corner of my heart

Delhi is the first city that gave me a feeling of responsibility that comes along with freedom. I had spent three years at the Presidency College Girls hostel in Kolkata during my graduation. But, in 2002, when I moved out to Delhi for my first post-graduation, it was also for the first time that I realized the state of being very far away from home. During my two-years stay there, I made some wonderful friends and was exposed to multiple cultures, languages, cuisines, and festivals.

After moving out to Bangalore in 2004, I never had a chance to return back here. Two months back, my husband had an opportunity to visit the city for his official work. Knowing my attachment to Delhi, he booked tickets for both the toddler and me. When we checked into the Taj hotel property, little did I expect the room to become a personal favorite! It wasn’t just the huge glass window pane that provided a gorgeous view of the Delhi sky but also the corner of the room dedicated as a working space that stole my heart. In the game of peek-a-boo between light and darkness, I sat down to write my second detective thriller.

I am taking my Alexa rank to the next level with Blogchatter

Author: Sonia Chatterjee

Who am I? An erstwhile banker turned blogger/writer/author. Any qualifications? A Post-Graduate degree in Chemistry followed by a second Post-Graduate Diploma in Management. I completed a one-year MFA in creative writing course from the Writer's Village University, U.S. in Dec 2020. Though I must admit that I am still trying to figure out how and when I can connect all these dots. Have I done any real work? If two years in market research, six years in banking as a branch head, three-plus years of blogging, writing, and publishing a book can be considered as real work, then yes! Where do I live? After spending life like a nomad for sixteen years in Delhi, Bangalore & Mysore, I am back to where it all started from - Kolkata. My favorite things - Books, coffee, travel, food, and my five-year-old son. What is this blog about? Through Sonia's musings, I intend to explore writing in various genres, create social awareness, spread laughter, and give words to emotions. Anything for readers? You can check out my book 'Deal of Death' on Amazon Kindle. If you like fast-paced thrillers, this Detective fiction introducing the woman sleuth, Raya Ray could turn out to be your perfect weekend read.

  1. I’ve realised it is important to sometimes get away from one’ s usual writing spot and go write some where else. I do that as often as I can. As ideas come traipsing galore. That looks like a cosy nook. Hope you find loads of those.

Thanks for the #WW link up Sonia. We are so glad to have you join us with these interesting stories each week. Just a small request, would it be alright to post slightly bigger pictures? Would help us see them better. 🙂

    1. Thank you for reading Natasha. This month I have been weaving flash fiction against these images and linking the third post for each of these series for WW with the background story of this picture. Hence the need for keeping it small but next month onwards, it will be an exclusive picture post. So I will ensure to keep it larger. Hope you can excuse me one last time this week.

      1. Oh Sonia, nothing to be sorry about at all, please. 😊 That was just a little feedback for you not just regard to #WordlessWednesday, but otherwise too, as larger images convey better emotions, so I feel.

Even in my flash fiction pieces I stick to larger images, but then that ofcourse is a personal choice.

I do understand your thoughts too about the same. Whatever works best for you do go with that.
Either ways you know we enjoy your stories. 😊

Thank you so much for joining us with your interesting snippets. We eagerly wait your posts. 🤗💓

  2. Aah! Second thriller novel. Can’t wait for it to be completed. All the best dear. I am hoping that this is a sequel to the first one and I will get to read more of Raya Ray. I am so in love with the name Raya ever since I read your first novel. All the best!
